Dancing Dolphin

The performers of the sea
Limelight thieves
Jeté from wave to wave
Showing off their sleek, slender bodies
As they salmon-leap
Through the foam herds

The gregarious creatures group together
Like stars making a constellation in the ebony sky
Speaking in a language inaudible to our ears
They spring from the water spinning in the air
Covering horizontal leagues in a day
Dancers of the sea
Towards their curtain-call.
